The A1R0evo is manufactured using one of the strongest, toughest carbons on the market, Toray’s T800.
An internal EPS mould makes a lighter, better finished frame, with vastly increased carbon compaction versus traditional bladder moulding, eliminating small imperfections to make the frame even more rigid.
To make sure we had got it right, the Handsling A1R0evo prototypes in each size are subjected to a rigorous testing procedure.
EPS helps build a lighter frame translating into a Dura-ace Di2 equipped test bike of 7.5kg bike including pedals.
The Handsling A1R0evo has proven geometry that has won national championships and consistently performed well in every situation from tight city centre criteriums to cobbled Belgian classics, fast road races to mountainous sportives, and rough road audax to gravel events.
A system of interlocking, aero headset spacers, cater for a wide variation in riding positions, enhance the look of the frame and retain the front end stiffness under hard efforts and braking.
Hidden cables maximise aerodynamic efficiency as does the stiff integrated handlebar with an out-front computer attachment.
Truncated, aerodynamic tube profiles - D-shaped - are aero in a wide variety of conditions, no matter the angle of wind resistance. Every tube shape was altered to match CFD findings and even the seatpost is a truncated D-shape.
The new trend for wider tyres with reduced rolling resistance, increased comfort and grip was surprisingly allied to our CFD analysis, where we found extra aero benefit of leaving more space between frame and wheels. This meant we ended up with a frame that could fit huge 32mm tyres, opening up all sorts of possibilities.
25mm and 28mm tyres are very aero but the frame will also accommodate 30mm or 32mm tyres, making it very versatile.
Larger tyres means enhanced comfort and meant a frame with more lateral stiffness.
- The downtube flairs out to the full width of the BB86 bottom bracket
- The hourglass head tube is massively oversized yet still aero
- 12mm thru axles also further enhance frame and wheel stiffness
- The fork and chainstays are asymmetric in design
To improve comfort the seatpost, while still very aero, is relatively thin and more flexible.
The A1R0evo also has a clever expander bolt hidden under the top tube, which makes freeing up a sticky seat clamp much easier.
The downtube port has three options: Di2 junction box or cable guide or blanked off.
The A1R0evo is disc brake only, which are now race legal and provide better brakes than road cyclists have ever had before. As road conditions deteriorate and traffic levels increase, and riders push harder and harder to ride faster on the open road, discs are the best braking option we have available.
All Handsling frames can be custom painted with as many or as few logos as you like!
