The Handsling Time Trial Disc Brake Wheelset is an aerodynamic wheelset specifically designed for use with TT bikes that have disc brakes.
A full carbon, hollow rear disc wheel is paired with a 80mm deep carbon front wheel to provide the perfect combination for time trial competition.
The rear wheel is a hollow carbon disc manufactured in T800 carbon using a new process that provides strength and stiffness without the need for internal support. This allows the wheel to be lighter overall, weighing in at 1,150g.
The wheel features an aerodynamic profile tapering to 25mm wide at the hooked rim. Internal width is 19mm and the profile is optimised to be used with 25mm tubeless or clincher tyres.
The 142 x 12mm hub sounds amazing, utilising a ratchet system and running on high-performance bearings. It comes with either a Shimano and SRAM XDR freehub body.
The front wheel uses an 80mm deep, hooked TLR rim, that is 25mm wide at the rim and 27mm at its widest point. This profile is designed to give maximum stability in all conditions.
Super stiff and aerodynamic Wing20 Spokes are laced to a Handsling 24H front hub, giving a full weight of 868g.
As with the rear, the internal width is 19mm, optimised to be used with 25mm tubeless or clincher tyres.
The front wheel is made in the UK by master wheelbuilder Ian Lynch using bespoke software to provide consistent spoke tension throughout the wheel.
Some of our frames are joint ventures - like the TR3evo - and others we own 100% - like the A1R0evo - but in all scenarios we lead the design process and exercise control over the production process. Photo shows the seatstay moulds of the A1R0evo, clearly stamped into the top middle of the mould...
Our frames are designed in-house, working in conjunction with our very talented and experienced engineer who turns our rough designs and crazy ideas into practical 2D , CAD 3D, and then into prototype frames. Photo shows TR3evo CAD drawing.
We use the latest production techniques such as EPS internal moulds to ensure we have the highest levels of carbon compaction in our frames, making lighter, stronger and stiffer frames. The inside of the frames are therefore very well finished making cabling very easy. Photo shows a dissected A1R0evo frame with EPS internal moulds.
Our frames are rigorously tested in a two stage process involving intense and often destructive testing in the factory, followed by real world testing here in the UK. Photo shows an A1R0evo frame in factory testing.
Handsling manufacture quality products that are designed to be high performing, demonstrated by winning a couple of world titles, over 20 national championships and numerous regional championships, and yet tough enough for amateur racing and riding, where a new frame from a team car is not an option and a broken frame is a real issue. Photo shows Oscar Nilsson-Julien after winning one of his many national championships aboard his Handsling TR3.
Handsling frames were originally created for the Handsling Racing Team. They are designed to perform and ultimately to win races. But whatever your level they allow you to perform at your best. Photo shows Matt Wallis of Handsling Racing winning a crit race on his A1R0.
Handsling frames are all about robust quality. We decided upon this strategy after experiencing so many issues with high end frames being damaged in minor collisions. Brands' constant striving for lightweight leading to the use of ridiculously thin, brittle carbon ill-suited to all but pro riders with an endless supply of frames. Photo shows Handsling RR1 and Fred Wright (now a ProTour rider) on the cobbles of the junior Paris-Roubaix.
Handsling frames are built up into full bikes in our workshop in Hamspshire, UK. As a result we can tweak each build to suit each individual rider.
We offer a lifetime warranty against any manufacturing defect on all Handsling frames, wheels and components.
"I am blown away by the performance of the bike in all situations flats, descents, acceleration and even more astonished by the improvement in my climbing... friends are now questioning what has happened to their performance! In total transparency I tell them “it’s not me, it’s the bike”."
"I have finally today finished building my Handsling. I’m just back from its first ride. And WOW. What a great bike. So smooth yet fast and stiff. Can’t wait to get out and ride it some more over the weekend. You really have designed a great bike here. As I say blown away with how it rides. It rides as well maybe even slightly better than my S works tarmac haha."
"I was looking for a high-performance road bike for amateur races and triathlons, but also club rides and blasting around the local lanes. I just don’t get how they made A1R0evo so stiff and responsive, but also so comfortable. I went for 28c tyres and the bike ploughs through road debris and potholes. The ride is assured and comes alive when you’re going full gas.”
"Just wanted to follow up now that it's been almost six months since I received the A1R0evo, weather is starting to turn for the better and I have been able to get out and ride more consistently with the earlier sunrises. The new bike rides great! I've been having a blast and riding much faster on my solo training rides which the new rig. I am very pleased indeed."
