Scottish based women’s elite development cycling team, Handsling Alba, headed to Altea, Spain for their winter training camp. Situated on Spain’s Costa Blanca, the team’s chosen destination is famous for its smooth roads, beautiful climbs and excellent weather. It’s a cycling paradise!
The winter training camp isn’t just about riding great bikes through fabulous terrain in the sun though. As well as the chance to get some steady miles in unaffected by weather, it gives the team a chance to get to know each other.
With five new riders joining for 2025 those long days in the saddle are a chance to create the team dynamic that can make the difference come race day. And it's not just the riders that need the training camp. The team’s support crew are there as well, putting in long hours and getting to know the new riders and how to get the best out of them.
The new riders will also need time to adjust to the team’s bikes. Alba are sponsored by Handsling and are riding on the A1R0evo, painted in blue and white to match the Scottish Saltire. The A1R0evo is Handsling’s UCI approved aero race bike, which the team rode to many victories last year.
The bikes are equipped with Shimano groupsets, Parcours wheels and Vittoria tyres. If you’d like to ride the same bike as Alba, take a look at the A1R0evo customisation page.
