Handsling-Alba rider Lauren Dickson is a cyclist on a steep upward trajectory.
2025 has been nothing short of a breakthrough year for the young Scot. Having only taken up road racing in April 2024, Dickson has quickly proven herself against elite international competition.
Her sporting background is unusual for a pro cyclist. She began as a triathlete before dropping the swim to focus on duathlon; both of which she competed at an elite level. Alongside this, she also represented Great Britain in mountain running. Despite her endurance pedigree, she was a novice in the bunch when she first pinned on a race number.
With the support of her partner, a rider for WorldTour team Picnic-PostNL, she adapted quickly to the demands of road racing. Joining Scottish development squad Handsling-Alba gave her the structure, guidance and race programme she needed to flourish.
In just over a year she has climbed from domestic and development races to UCI podiums and victories, capped by a landmark win at the Rapha Lincoln Grand Prix and podiums in stage races abroad. Those results have not gone unnoticed — Lauren will step up to the Women’s WorldTour in 2026 with FDJ-SUEZ, marking the next chapter in a meteoric rise.
Team Manager Bob Lyons said:
“We are delighted that Lauren has signed a two year contract with FDJ-Suez. It has been a delight watching and being a part of her development this year. She has had an incredible season and this move is just reward. Her future is very bright indeed and we will be hearing her name a lot in the coming years. The team was set up to create a platform for development, with the team’s major focus being the rider and getting the best out of them. It is pleasing to see that the implementation of a somewhat different strategy is bearing fruit. Good luck Lauren.”
