A1R0evo: The Do-It-All Carbon Road Bike Frame
The A1R0evo is Handsling’s flagship road bike frameset – the model behind our long-distance endurance road bikes and race-ready road bikes, built to cover everything you do on the road. Manufactured using Toray T800 carbon with aero tube shaping, UCI approval and clearance for 32mm tyres, it’s a road frame you can keep rebuilding around as your riding progresses.
Included with A1R0evo Frameset
- Available in six sizes
- Integrated headset bearings
- Aero, interlocking headset spacers
- Dedicated aero seatpost
- Handsling superlight thru-axles (142x12 mm rear, 100x12 mm front)
* Aero-integrated handlebars are sold separately. The frameset arrives ready for a simple, straightforward build, whether you’re upgrading an existing road bike or starting a completely new project.
- Designed 100% in-house by Handsling, with geometry and tube shapes created specifically for high-performance carbon road bike frames.
- Manufactured from Toray T800 carbon fibre, chosen for its balance of stiffness, durability and low weight.
- Internal EPS moulds compact the carbon for a tougher, lighter and stiffer frameset with a clean internal finish.
- Frame and fork are tested to rigorous, destructive standards that go beyond basic ISO requirements.
- Approx. 920 g matte UD carbon frame and 350 g uncut fork in size 52 cm – competitive for an all-round aero road frameset.
- Downtube flares to the full width of the BB86 bottom bracket shell to optimise efficient power transfer.
- Oversized hourglass head tube increases front-end stiffness while presenting an aerodynamic profile to the wind.
- Asymmetric fork and chainstays are shaped to resist twisting forces from disc braking and pedalling, ensuring stability under braking and efficient power transfer.
- 12 mm thru-axles lock wheels solidly into the frame, adding to overall stiffness and precise road handling.
- Dropped seatstays reduce frontal area and help smooth airflow around the rear of the bike for better aerodynamic efficiency.
- Truncated aerofoil tube profiles act like an airfoil with a Kamm-tail effect, giving aero gains at lower weight than full airfoil sections.
- Fully integrated, hidden cable routing keeps the front of the frameset clean, improving airflow and the overall look of the bike.
- The frame is designed to remain aerodynamically efficient across a wide range of wind angles, not just in headwinds.
- Frame accepts tyres up to 32mm, enhancing ride comfort and shock absorption on rougher roads.
- Ability to run larger-volume tyres means the frameset can be laterally stiff while still delivering good ride comfort.
- Unique aero seat tube profile tapers to take a standard-diameter seatpost, allowing flex.
- The dedicated aero, truncated D-shape seatpost works with a hidden expander clamp under the top tube for a secure, non-stick interface and a clean look.
- Neutral road bike geometry is stable and confidence-inspiring on fast descents yet fast-reacting and nimble through corners.
- Geometry is balanced to suit everything from crits to long days in the saddle.
- Overall bike geometry is designed for riders and racers alike, making it easy to move quickly from your current road bike to an A1R0evo frameset.

Great quality frameset which is outstanding to ride. Speed & comfort rarely come together on a road bike but my A1R0evo has it mastered.
It's fast in racing, but also handles really well, which is important when I’m cornering in a criterium or road race.
The A1R0evo is fast, it climbs, it's stable, it handles brilliantly, inspires confidence at speed and is comfortable.
The bike is super smooth, but also has really sharp handling and just feels fast.
A1R0evoS: The Superlight Carbon Road Bike Frame
The A1R0evoS is the superlight evolution of our carbon fibre road bike frames. Using the same aero moulds as the A1R0evo, but upgraded to Toray T1100 carbon, it achieves the same frame stiffness with less material.
UCI-approved, rigorously tested beyond ISO standards and designed in-house, it’s the frame to choose if you want top level performance in a road frameset you can build exactly your way.
Included with A1R0evoS Frameset
- Integrated 1.5" headset bearings
- Dedicated aero seatpost
- Handsling superlight thru-axles 142x12 mm and 100x12 mm
- Clamp for standard saddle rails (carbon oval clamp available on request)
* Handsling integrated race handlebar is sold separately
- Designed 100% in-house and built in unique moulds owned exclusively by Handsling.
- Uses Toray T1100 carbon fibre, requiring less material to achieve the same stiffness as the T800 A1R0evo, for a lighter performance frameset.
- Bladder-wrapped internal EPS moulds compact the carbon, improving strength and durability while keeping the inside of the frame clean.
- UCI-approved and put through destructive stress tests in the factory to exceed ISO standards before being road-tested in the UK.
- Approx. 770 g frameset weight in size 52, designed to build into a carbon road bike under 7kg with an appropriate spec.
- Oversized hourglass head tube flows into a broad down tube and full-width BB86 bottom bracket shell, creating a stiff core to the frame.
- Asymmetric fork blades are shaped to resist the twisting forces from hard disc braking, ensuring stability under braking.
- Asymmetric chainstays handle pedalling loads from the driveside, turning lateral force from the chainset into forward momentum.
- 12mm thru-axles front and rear lock the wheels into the carbon fibre frame, adding to the direct, efficient feel when you sprint or climb.
- Tube profiles across the frame and seatpost use truncated D-shape aerofoils, designed to give advantage in changing wind directions.
- Dropped stays and a slimmed rear triangle help reduce frontal area and manage airflow around the back of the bike.
- Fully integrated cable routing keeps the front end clean for better aerodynamics and a tidy finished look.
- While stiff and aero, A1R0evoS was developed as a do-it-all road frame, optimised for all-day comfort as well as flat-out speed.
- A uniquely tapered seattube and narrow aero seatpost are designed to help absorb road vibration.
- Clearance for 32 mm tyres lets you use tyre volume and pressure as extra shock absorption on rougher roads.
- The slim, truncated D-shape seatpost works with a hidden expander clamp under the top tube, keeping the saddle secure while still allowing the post to flex as intended.
- Neutral race-oriented geometry that feels stable on fast descents while staying quick and nimble through corners and changes of direction.
- Designed to respond in all situations, from tight criteriums to long, technical descents and everyday training rides.
- Shares its geometry with the A1R0evo platform, so you get predictable, confidence-inspiring handling whether you’re racing or just riding fast with the club.

Support CentreThe A1R0evo is a do-it-all carbon road bike frame with aero tube shaping and neutral race geometry for club runs, crits and sportives. The A1R0evoS uses higher-grade T1100 carbon in the same moulds to cut weight while keeping stiffness, handling and frame sizes identical, making it ideal for riders chasing every performance gain.
A well-designed carbon fibre road bike frame is durable enough for everyday UK road riding, including rough lanes and winter miles.
Modern carbon frame materials and layups are engineered for stiffness, durability and shock absorption, so a quality frameset can handle potholes and poor surfaces when built and maintained correctly. With professional repair and regular maintenance, a good carbon road frame is built for years, not a single season.
A carbon road frame is typically several hundred grams lighter than an equivalent alloy frame, and lighter again than most steel frames.
Many carbon road bike framesets (frame and fork) come in around 1.2–1.6 kg, depending on size and design, while comparable aluminium or steel framesets are usually noticeably heavier. That lower weight makes climbing and repeated accelerations easier, and because carbon lets designers tune bike geometry and stiffness, you often gain both performance and ride comfort.
A road bike carbon fibre frame is usually worth it if you care about speed, ride comfort and having a high-quality platform you can upgrade over time.
Carbon allows aerodynamic tube shaping, targeted stiffness and built-in shock absorption that’s hard to match with other frame materials, giving better performance and smoother ride quality on roads. For riders who enjoy fast group rides, sportives or racing, a well-designed carbon road frameset is the best overall value.
Absolutely, we offer an official respray service for all of our carbon road framesets.
In each case the paint team removes the old clear coat and paint, carefully strips the frame back to bare carbon, thoroughly inspect it, then prime, basecoat (colour) and clear coat it in Handsling’s UK facility. You pick your new colour and finish, so your existing carbon road bike frame can be refreshed or completely updated without changing frame.
